Migration (Required medical assessments) Amendment Instrument (LIN 22/065) 2022 dated 23 June 2022, amends the health assessments required by migration Regulations 1994 – Specification of Required Medical Assessment IMMI 15/144, by updating the additional medical assessments for the class of persons mentioned in Schedule 4, PIC 4005(1)(aa), 4007(1)(aa) and 4006A, for applicants for specific visas and occupations.
Below mentioned are the updated Medical assessments required for applicants for specific visas and occupations:
- An applicant who intends to study, train, or work as a doctor, dentist, nurse, or paramedic must undertake the following medical assessment unless applying for an SC 600 Visitor visa of fewer than 6 months stay:
- medical examination, and
- chest X-ray, and
- HIV test, and
- Hepatitis B test, and
- Hepatitis C test, and
- latent tuberculosis screening.
- For doctors, dentists, nurses, and paramedics applying for an SC 600 Visitor visa of fewer than 6 months stay:
- medical examination, and
- chest X-ray, and
- HIV test, and
- Hepatitis B test, and
- Hepatitis C test
- For applicants who intend to study, train, or work as a health care worker (not mentioned above) or to work within a health care, aged care, or disability facility (unless applying for an SC 600 visa for less than 6 months stay):
- medical examination, and
- chest X-ray, and
- latent tuberculosis screening
For health care workers applying for an SC 600 for less than 6 months stay:
- medical examination, and
- chest X-ray.
- For applicants likely to train or work in an Australian childcare center including creche or preschool:
- medical examination, and
- chest X-ray.
- For applicants likely to enter a health care or hospital environment:
- medical examination, and
- chest X-ray.
- For an applicant who is pregnant and intends to give birth in Australia:
- Hepatitis B test.
- For an applicant who is at least 75 years old and applying for a visitor visa or Tourist visa:
- a medical examination.
The Instrument is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation on 24 June 2022 and commences on 1 July 2022.
